Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi

Day 1: Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Cave Camp
The first day of the trek begins with a drive from Moshi to the Umbwe Gate. After registration, you will start your ascent through the dense rainforest. The trail is steep and narrow, winding through a vibrant ecosystem. After several hours of challenging trekking, you will reach Umbwe Cave Camp at 2,850 meters (9,350 feet) for your first night on the mountain.
Day 2: Umbwe Cave Camp to Barranco Camp
On the second day, the trail continues steeply upward, leaving the rainforest behind and entering the moorland zone. The path offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and Mount Kilimanjaro. After about 4-5 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Barranco Camp at 3,900 meters (12,800 feet), set in a picturesque valley surrounded by steep cliffs and the iconic Barranco Wall.
Day 3: Barranco Camp Acclimatization

After celebrating your achievement, you will descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp at 3,110 meters (10,204 feet). Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
The final day involves a descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. This 3-4 hour hike is a chance to enjoy the beautiful surroundings one last time.
