Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Your 6-day Marangu route Kilimanjaro trekking adventure begins at Marangu Gate, located at an altitude of 1,870 meters (6,135 feet). After completing registration and meeting your guide, you’ll start your trek through the dense rainforest. This initial leg of the journey takes about 4–5 hours, leading you to Mandara Hut at 2,700 meters (8,858 feet). Along the way, enjoy the vibrant flora and fauna, including the playful colobus monkeys. Settle into Mandara Hut for your first night on the mountain.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
On the second day, you’ll continue your ascent from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut. The trail takes you through the moorland zone, offering stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro’s peaks. This segment of the trek takes approximately 5–6 hours, and you’ll encounter unique vegetation such as giant lobelias and groundsels. Arrive at Horombo Hut, situated at 3,720 meters (12,205 feet), where you’ll spend the night and enjoy the panoramic views.
Day 3: Horombo Hut Acclimatization

Day 5: Kibo Hut to Summit and Back to Horombo Hut
